Before digital, it wasn't easy to take sexy home snapshots. Taken with a regular camera and roll of film was not only expensive, but also meant having to drop off your roll at the local store, and then return (somewhat red-faced) and pay of it, as the clerk rang you up without making eye-contact.
Some stores even had official polices to destroy any images they deemed inappropriate--aka home-made porn. However, sometimes I think the manager probably told their staff to pull any such images for his review (and back then you can bet the manager was a man). No doubt Mr. Manager has his own private stash of his neighbor's intimate moments.
So, at best, making your own sexy images was embarrassingly awkward, and at worse, a waste of time and money, and perhaps even worse, just supplying the guy down at the Photo Mat with his own supply of amateur porn.
Thank god for the invention of the Polaroid. Suddenly, couples could snaps away, and in a few magical moments, their own sexy images would self-devlop right before their eyes. There was one and only one copy of the image, and it could be keep safely at home, never in the hands of the Photo Mat.
This wonderful moment in time is like a layer of archeology, a strata in a rock face, a ring in a tree. There exists in the world dozens of shoeboxes tucked deep in closets or nooks of attics. Wonderful captured moments of a couple's most private shared moments. What I especially love, is how candid there are--a generation before point, click, and review. Pre-Facbook, pre-tagging, these were never moments to be posted for the public, but always held close at hand.
Now, though, is the perfect time to go snoop them back up, dust them off, and share them. Send them here. sexysexblog at gmail. We love them. We'll give them the appreciation they deserve.
