Hollywood has given us some sexy starlets over the decades--some glamorous, some sophisticated, some coy and some coquettish... but there is little doubt that the most sultry was Lauren Bacall.
Originally born of Jewish immigrants in the Bronx, Betty Joan Perske would eventually work her way up through modeling gigs and small roles to her breakout aside the great Humphrey Bogart. Who can forget her classic line in "To Have and Have Not," when she tells Bogart that if he wants her, all he has to do is whistle. "Do do know how to whistle?" she asks. "Just put your lips together and blow."
It has become one of the most quoted lines in Hollywood History.
The then 24 year old Bacall and 45 year old Bogart would launch a romance as fiery off screen as on. They would marry and star in four more Hollywood classics before Bogart's death in 1957.
Supposedly, Bacall placed a whistle in Borgats coffin as a memento to the touchstone of their 10-year romance.
