Tribute to Blondie: Debbie Harry, Part 1

In the sex-symbol-making industry of pop music, the competition is heavy. My vote might have to go to the bad girl of pop-punk, Debbie Harry of the group Blondie. She became synonymous with the cool sexy hip pop star of the late 70s and early 80s. A true original.

My Sexy Spot blog is proud to pay tribute to Debbie Harry in this 3-part series. Enjoy.

Part One: Early start, move to the city

Before her super stardom, Debbie Harry was born in Miami, and adopted by two gift-store owners in New Jersey. She attended high school and college in Jersey, and in the mid-60s, moved to the city.

She worked an assortment of jobs, including secretary, waitress, go-go dancer and Playboy Bunny.

OMG. I worshiped Blondie and Deborah Harry back in the 70's and 80's. So gorgeous and talented with a voice like none other. She is now 68 years old. This makes me want to cry. Both for her and me. Time passes so, so quickly.

She took a hiatus of two years from her thriving career to care for a very ill Chris Stein, her longtime lover and cofounder of Blondie. They managed to stay together for almost four decades.

BTW, my favorite Deborah Harry album, though not the her fans' favorite, is Def, Dumb and Blonde. Deborah at her best with some gorgeous songs on that album IMHO.
