Tribute to Blondie: Debbie Harry, part 2

My Sexy Spot blog is proud to pay tribute to Debbie Harry in the second of this 3-part series. Enjoy.

Part Two: When Punk and Pop collided

Debbie Harry found herself amidst a group of budding musicians and started singing in local bars and clubs. Her first gig was as a backup singer for a folk rock group, Wind in the Willows.

She was part of the gritty CBGBs scene, Iggy Popp, Joey Ramon, Joan Jett, the Clash, and the Talking Heads. After a series of different bands, she met guitarist Chris Stein.

At some point, the natural brunette bleached her hair, and as a result, some folks started referring to her as 'blondie.' The nickname would inspire the name for the new band formed by Debbie and Chris in the mid-70s.
