This Day in History: Miss October

Ballet started in the 15th Century, during the Italian Renaissance, then then developed in Russia, England, and France. Since its origins, ballerinas have always been a visual  delight. Degas knew this and captured the sexual allure of ballerinas in his paintings.

Maybe it's their long, legs, firm and strong, but so flexible. Maybe their pale European looks, maybe the hardwood floors and nearly transparent leotards. Playboy picked it up in the spread for Miss October, 1977.
