According to a legend that dates back at least to the 13th Century, Lady Godiva rode naked through the streets of Coventry in order to gain a remission of the oppressive taxation imposed by her husband on his tenants.
Had she been a 20th Century noblewoman, she might have ridden a motorcycle.
