Honeyman State Park

Back when we were dating, but not yet married, we camped at Honeyman and so I have very fond memories. The reason to go is for the dunes. You can spend hours climbing (feel the burn), running, and rolling down the dunes. We spent most of our time at Cleawox Lake, where sand, water, and trees come together. On a summer day, tucked out of the wind, and screened from the highway, it is a perfect place to skinny dip. At least, back then.

Now Honeyman is overrun with ATVs. You can hear the whine of the engines for miles, even over the roar of the Pacific. The ATVs are so loud that the ATV "enthusiasts" have to blasting their radios to full volume. They also seem to like to leave their TVs on full volume in the campgrounds, which are packed with giant pickup trucks and RVs.

You should consider this when deciding if you want to camp here. There will be noise. A lot of noise.

I miss the old Oregon.

Hey, I've been there! It's been a while though.
