X-Girlfriend Pose in Corner

We never really broke up, but we knew we were no longer officially dating when she moved to the East Coast for grad school. We sort of stayed in touch, but time and distance began to set in. About a year later, she returned for a visit. She was house sitting for her friend Holly, where she used to rent a room when we were dating. She invited me over. Suddenly, being back in the same house, with her, the time and distance evaporated. We were soon doing the one thing we loved to do, our common passion for photography, and especially nudes.

She was always an eager and enthusiastic model. Without any prompting she stripped and said, "Let's make some nudes."

She looked pretty much exactly the same, but I saw that since we'd stopped dating, she'd stopped shaving. I wondered if she'd been shaving just for me, or because that's what society expects a girl to do in a relationship, or if she just didn't really need to care during the months of a cold Boston winter. In any case, I found it new and exciting. Very much like she'd found more independence and self-confidence in grad school.

One of my favorite photos is her in the corner, her legs open and arms up, as if to say, she's totally open to possibility, totally comfortable with herself.
